Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry, and narrow-mindedness, and many of our people need it sorely on these accounts. Broad, wholesome, charitable views of men and things cannot be acquired by vegetating in one little corner of the earth all one's lifetime.
I'm an avid traveler and have visited over 25 countries and lived (longer than 3 months) in 5 so far. Traveling is probably the best way to learn about other cultures and customs. I've found the traveling experience tremendously helpful in working with people that have diverse backgrounds. Photos from some of my trips can be found here:
